Areyto: A Gathering of Remembrance

On this day of Dominican Independence, we gather in Areyto—a sacred circle of remembrance, song, and storytelling.

Areyto has long been a way for our Taíno ancestors to honor their histories, share wisdom, and connect through the rhythm of voice and drum. In this spirit, we come together to reclaim independence beyond colonial narratives—to root into the lands that hold us, the ancestors that guide us, and the stories that live in our bones.

Alongside our beloved Taíno brother Cuyo, we will circle in reverence, weaving together music, prayer, and presence.
